Wurst Days

100_3870 Over the Memorial Day weekend Ellen and I were at our cottage in the Arrowhead Region of Minnesota. We noticed that Mahtowa was holding their annual ‘Wurst Days’ event and thought it would be fun to stop by. Mahtowa is located west of I-35 just south of Carlton, Minnesota. Mahtowa has a wonderful country store that makes its own bratwurst, sausage and other processed meats. We often stop there to pick up some brats for a bar-b-q.

100_3869 There was a big crowd for a town of about 20 people.100_3872 They had a lively old time polka band entertaining people. There was a wagon pulled by draft horses giving rides to people. They also had a pony ride set up for smaller children. The brats and sausages were a hit with everyone. Weather was perfect and a good time was had by everyone in attendance.

100_3871 I thoroughly enjoy stopping at small town events like this. Minnesota has a lot of small towns and most seem to have some sort of summer event. It is a good way for people to get together and visit.
