This week a couple of our carpenters installed pre-finished metal fascia and soffits on an older rural home. The home had beaded ceiling board soffits in most areas, but some areas had been repaired with plywood. There were gaps in the boards and insects were able to access the attic, so the homeowners asked us to cover the areas.
This is a very good use for pre-finished metal materials. It is durable and does not
need painting. By ensuring the metal is properly fastened and flashed it prevents water from causing damage to these areas of the home. And it should greatly reduce intrusions by insects and small mammals.
