Father’s Day Fun

This father got to spend the whole day with his wife having fun! We started off with a wonderful brunch at the St. James Hotel in Red Wing. We sat on the veranda overlooking the Mississippi river and the trains passing by. After that feast we strolled around Red Wing looking at the beautiful classic and old cars on display. My absolute favorite car was the 1929 Cadillac in perfect condition.

The weather was perfect for this annual car show and I suspect the huge numbers of cars reflect the nice day. They had everything you can imagine on display….and then some. There were lots of muscle cars from the 1960′s, many, many of the popular 1055-57 Chevrolet cars, and a whole bunch of the pioneed cars from 1906-1920—a truly remarkable assemblage of vehicles.

There was a 1969  75′ ariel platform firetruck….called the Phantom Fire Department. I visited a bit and learned that the owner purchased the truck for $3,000 in running condition and simply enjoys having it out and about on display. I also saw a restored 1946 garbage truck which was about one quarter the size of today’s trucks.
