The finial on the cupola at the Dodge Center Courthouse in Mantorville was in pretty tough shape. The metal had rusted through completely in several areas, and the rest of the metal was paper thin. Our sheet metal contractor, Lockerby Sheet Metal from Faribault, removed the finial and took it to their shop to use as a pattern to create a new finial.
The new one they fabricated looks wonderful. It is constructed using heavy copper sheeting and copper balls, all fully soldered together.
They used their crane to reach the top of the cupola to mount the finial.
