Yesterday evening the Northfield Lampert Lumber hosted its annual Contractor Appreciation dinner for area builders. This is a fun event and a great time to gather together and chat with people in the building construction trades. As in past years, the event was held at the Odd Fellows Park pavilion on the west side of Northfield. There was a good turn out at the event. Unfortunately, the economic downturn has caused significant problems for many in the construction industry so the talk was not as upbeat as in past years.
The dinner was catered by Nerstrand Meats and was
thoroughly enjoyed by everyone there. They brought in a whole roasted hog and proceeded to carve it up for us to enjoy. I’m not sure how they roast the hog, but it was very moist and tender meat.
As part of the dinner Lampert’s gives away a number of door prizes….caps, jackets, some tools, etc. A co-sponsor of the dinner this year was Owens-Corning. We purchase a lot of their roofing and insulation products. One of their advertising elements is the ‘pink panther’ and they contributed a large stuffed one for the door prize. The daughter of a Northfield Construction Company worker won the pink panther and was very, very happy!
