Meet the Team: Holli Reed

How long have you been with NCC?

3 months

What is your official title?

Executive Assistant

What does a typical day look like for you?

I provide administrative support for Chris Kennelly and his two companies Northfield Construction Company and Bluewater Properties.  I actually work out of the Bluewater Properties office.  I maintain Chris’s calendar, coordinate events and assist with scheduling meetings.  I provide support with other office management duties like assisting with emails, phone messages, creating spreadsheets, and preparing documents for special projects.  I also get to assist with personal assistant projects which brings a different level of fun and spontaneity to the position.

What are you favorite type of projects to work on?

It’s hard to pick one, but for example last week I got to accompany Chris on assignment for Bluewater Properties.  I got to be a part of a walk-through inspection and take photographs of new leasing spaces.  I even got to climb a ladder up to the roof of a 40’ building and walk around.  The view was spectacular!  It’s very neat to see the inside workings of both companies, and I feel very privileged to be a part of both.

What is it like working with Chris Kennelly?

A dream, he is one of the best employers I have ever had the privilege to work with.  He is a visionary, leads by example, is very hard working, and treats everyone with kindness.  And, he throws a lot of fun and jokes into the mix!

What is something you learned while doing this job that surprised you?

The amount of emails Chris gets!

What is the most rewarding part of the job?

Working with a great team that is lead by Chris Kennelly, it has been so fun!

What is the most challenging part of the job?

Perhaps, keeping up with all of Chris’s emails. Just kidding!

What do you like to do in your free time?

My husband Robby and I enjoy spending time with our family and friends.  We enjoy spending time at my family’s cabin near Grand Rapids, MN.  I love to read, listen to music-all genres & varieties, go to movies, and travel. Most recently, I just started an entrepreneurial adventure with a new skincare company and I am trying to teach myself how to play the ukulele!

Project Overview: Keepsake Cidery

We recently worked with a fun local establishment, Keepsake Cidery, on their new tasting room. This was a fun project with a lot of personal touches from the Keepsake family. We visited with Nate, who owns and operates Keepsake Cidery along with his wife and family, to learn about his experience partnering with NCC on this project.

What was it like working with NCC on this project?

I knew I could trust NCC to get the job done at the highest level. Communication was very good and everyone was enjoyable to work with. I am very happy with NCC and the finished project.

Being such a unique operation, tell us what it is like being a part of the Northfield community?

We love this community. Its is one of the main reasons we chose to literally put our roots down in the Cannon Valley. People here are active and supportive, we love being a place the community can come enjoy a local made drink, meal, hike, and music.

Meet the Team: Craig Vold

How long have you been with NCC?

I started my 28th year here the beginning of November. I originally started as a Field Superintendent. I have been in the construction industry since 1977 and have worked all over for different construction companies.

What is your official title here at NCC?

I am a Senior Project Manager and work specifically on commercial projects.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Everyday is different. I get here and hop on the horse until it bucks you off! Each day is busy and you try to plan it out, but you really just have to go with the flow.

What are your favorite types of projects to work on?

Out of all the commercial work we do, some of my favorite projects are banks, medical facilities, and churches. Recently I worked on the Canvas Church project. When I started we were doing 1-2 churches a year, ranging from remodels to new construction. I think we’ve done around 18-20 churches since I have been here. Churches are something I worked on in previous positions as well.

Who is your ideal customer?

Someone who takes the time to educate themselves, or who is knowledgeable about their project. It is always helpful if someone understands what they are asking for.

What is your advice to someone in or looking to get into the industry?

My advice would be to keep themselves current and up to date with the ever changing rules and regulations. It is hard to do, but necessary.

What is it like working for NCC?

It has been really good. I am in charge of a lot, but NCC is very trusting of their team which says a lot.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

You get to see the finished job after everything is done. I also really enjoy working with the customers.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Regulations, they are always changing.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I enjoy fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. When the two come together, like hunting in Lanesboro with my son, that is great.
